The mission of the Spenser Somers Foundation

The mission of the Spenser Somers Foundation is to bring together resources and people to serve others in need. Through programs to support families and individuals in times of hardship, the SSF aims to carry on the legacy of service and caring that Spenser taught those close to him.

The SSF is THE proud SPONSOR OF CAMP BREAKAWAY

The SSF is a primary sponsor of Camp Breakaway. Camp Breakaway is a summer camping experience and year-round support program for children with cancer and blood disorders, ages 7-17, and their siblings. Children and families battling these conditions face many difficult physical and emotional challenges. Our partner, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, provides a medical team who stays onsite with the children to attend to their medical needs, which is what makes our camp unique and allows parents to be at ease while their kids are away.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY: LOAVES & FISHES

Every month since 2006, the SSF has brought a group to Loaves & Fishes in Bloomington, MN. We have provided/served over 50,000 meals to individuals and families in need of a good meal - with no questions asked. In addition to the people served, this program has brought together over 400 different volunteers ranging in age from 4 to 70.
